13.8km (860m) composed of 10 timed stages (totalling 6.2km 300m) and 7.6km (560m) of non-timed transfer stages. Taking in some of Clwydians best trods, views, climbs, descents the course will wind you over Moel Famau & Foel Fenlli and back to Bwlch Penbarras.

Teams of 4. Number of teams will be limited to 40 (initially).

Classes: Online entries have fast/slow classes also for each – we will send the slower runners off early to compress the finish times.

  1. Mainmixed team of 2 male/2 female
  2. Openany 4 runners – competing for fun & “KOM-QOM of stage” prizes only

The course is divided into a number of timed stages (think Strava segments) and transfer legs between timed stages. Teams will navigate the course together as a team being responsible for the safety of all its members. Each timed stage will have entry and exit gate where the times will be recorded (electronically) and each runner will dib each point. For each team the fastest 3 times (from 4) count for each stage.

“Some” way-marking will be provided but your team will need to have enough navigation/recce knowledge to get you round the course.

Draft Course Map & Stage Preview

The intent is to have a chilled fun race with your mates with plenty of inter-team banter and for clubs to add colour and frivolity by sponsoring one of the timed stages. Sponsorship (marshalling) means a minimum of providing two marshals (for start & finish gates of the stage). Hopefully in addition teams/clubs will add a little colour & fun to the fells – fly a banner, jaffa cakes, juggling clowns, shots of vodka, water pistols…. you get the idea. Usually most clubs have their own ‘thing’ – so bring a touch of it to add spice.

Sponsors so far: Clwydian Range Runners, Denbigh (provisional), Tattenhall (provisional).

I would be super happy to hear from other teams/clubs willing to get involved by marshalling/sponsoring a stage so please message [email protected]

Any surplus money will be donated to fund a replacement defib for Moel Famau car park after some distgusting scrote nicked the last one.
